In fact, the video hit my mind. I used to limit my photography to portraits and landscapes, always focusing on light and color. After watching this video, I think I should turn my eyes to the deeper meaning. Art blurs human gender and brings out the best in beauty. When photographing naked people, people will pay attention to the era behind it and its inner feelings, instead of focusing on the surface of the body. In the future, I will develop photography to highlight my inner feelings and endow it with deeper meaning.
Five lights
On March 14, we went to the studio in the library. We took portraits of people in five lights. The emotions expressed by the characters under these lights are also different. Not only the light, I found that the pictures of the characters wearing different colors of clothes also have great differences in temperament.
Environment portrait
On March 9, 2019, my partner Kasey and I went to the parking lot of Kaiser health office and took a group of environmental portraits as “drivers”. Kasey drove her white car, and I felt relieved when I saw her car, because the color of the car was in line with her lovely personality, so that I could better integrate her into the environment. The shooting went on quickly because the weather was good and there were not many people.
My understanding of art
By watching this video and listened to so many classmates’s thoughts of the book, I know more about the importance of freedom and parental education in cultivating children’s sense of art. As the artist mentioned, some children say that they have seen aliens, and some parents will not believe him at all and call him a liar, some other parents will ask their children more questions like what aliens look like and whether they have spoken with aliens or not. And these questions will inspire the child’s imagination. This is what we should demand of ourselves. Do not try to suppress our nature, even if it is absurd and crazy. Do not try to destroy it, but obey it, so as to make wonderful works of art.

We came to Walnut Park around 5:00pm on February 28th. I had planned to make some pictures of the desolate atmosphere with the dead trees. But the students were so interesting that I decided to make some interesting pictures. I was most happy to find a beautiful snail shell and some beautiful rape flowers. I wanted to focus on the traces of spring before the desolate dead trees. So most of my images are very saturated. What surprised me the most was a classmate who suddenly appeared in the camera. He was right in the middle of the tree hole I shot, so I quickly saved the moment.

I was at beach that day, and with my friends. it was about 6 pm, and I cought a great moment of sunset. Also when I came home, I found some old stuff of my host family, and it seems like from many years ago. I felt relaxing when I took these photos but a little difficult when I shoot the cat, because it always moving all the time.

Today, Feb 8th, I went to Calsbed Oceanside. I was with two of my good friends, who also took the photography course. Our goal were just finishing our homework, but when we got to the beach, everyone’s mood changed. What started as grumbling turned into enjoying the view. We took off our shoes and ran all over the sand. We even saw a seal. We took lots of pictures of each other from noon until sunset. It was an amazing journey.
The meaning of photographer
When I only heard the audio of the video, what in my mind are several photographers sitting here and just talking. But when I watched this video, I found there are many amazing photos showed on the screen. Without picture, I almost felt sleepy about what they said. But with the scene of the pictures, I was shocked about how great these photographers are. Photographer is the inspiration of people’s life, the power that support people’s mind. They are also time stopper.

I come from China. I’m a junior student of CSUSM. My major is visual and performing arts. I want to be a video editor, so I want to learn fundamentals of photography in this class.
I’m trying to learn how to create music video this year. It’s hard but I have a great passion on it.
I plan to graduate in this year, so I will have a very full class schedule. After my graduate, I plan to travel to Europe with my mom.
